Watchlist network
Share ban reports with other Nighthawk communities and act on flagged users when they join.
What the network is
The Watchlist is a shared ban network across communities that use Nighthawk. Opted-in servers report users they banned for serious offences: raiding, scams, CSAM, harassment, malware and more. Reports about the same user add up to a confidence level, and subscribing servers act when a flagged user joins.
Opting in
Open the Watchlist section in the dashboard. “Check joining members against the network” turns on enforcement for your server; “Share this server’s reports with the network” makes your reports count for everyone else. Both are off by default and independent of each other.
What gets shared
A report contains only the user ID, a category and your reason. Your community’s name is never shared with other servers; they only see aggregate counts. Full report details, including which server filed them, are visible to Nighthawk network administrators only.
Confidence tiers
A server’s reports become “weighted” once it has had sharing enabled for at least 7 days, which stops brand-new servers from skewing the network. High confidence means reports from 3 or more weighted servers, or a weighted CSAM/raid report plus at least 2 weighted servers. Medium means 2 or more weighted servers, or any weighted CSAM, raid or malware report. Anything below that is low.
Enforcement actions
Choose what Nighthawk does per tier when a flagged user joins: alert your moderators, kick, ban or do nothing. The defaults are ban on high, alert on medium and nothing on low. Banning on low confidence is not recommended, since a single unverified report would be enough.
Reporting and retracting
File a report with n!wl report <user> <category> [reason], from the dashboard’s Watchlist section, or via the prompt Nighthawk shows after a ban when “Ask moderators to share bans” is on. Each server can file up to 20 reports per 24 hours, and one active report per user; filing again updates it. Retract with n!wl retract <user> or from the dashboard at any time.
Dismissals, strikes and disputes
If an entry doesn’t concern you, dismiss it locally with n!wl dismiss <user> so it no longer triggers in your server. Nighthawk network administrators can strike an entry network-wide when reports turn out to be false or abusive. Flagged users can dispute an entry on the public dispute page at /watchlist-dispute; the Nighthawk team reviews every dispute and strikes entries that shouldn’t exist.
